George Doetsch Jr. ’64 Receives Significant Sig Award
On June 26, 2025, our Gamma Chi Chapter brother George Doetsch Jr. ’64 received a 2024 Significant Sig Award at Sigma Chi’s 85th Grand Chapter Conference in Denver, Colorado.
This is one of our Fraternity’s highest honors, and it recognizes Alumni members whose exemplary achievements in their field of endeavor have brought great honor and prestige to the name of Sigma Chi.
George is Chairman of Apple Ford Lincoln, a successful auto dealership in Maryland. The organization also operates the TriState Collision Center, the Columbia Quicklane and Apple Auto Mitsubishi. He began his career in 1958 as a mechanic and transitioned to sales, management, and ownership/operations as a Dealer Principal. George worked for Ford Motor Company and Porsche before opening his current dealership.
He also owns Marama Farm, a Thoroughbred horse farm. Doetsch is a former Maryland Lottery and Gaming Board Commissioner and for 40+ years, has served terms on seventeen community boards, including the University of Maryland’s world-renowned R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma’s Board, Maryland Employers Support of the Guard and Reserve, WANADA and others. George considers his philanthropic endeavors among his greatest achievements.
