Sigma Chi’s 2025 in Review

Semi-Annual Scholarship Dinner

Ethan Andrews, captain of the chapter fantasy draft team, with the highest average GPA among the eight or so fantasy draft teams from a draft held within the chapter. Ethan, pictured above holding the Bell Cup where he and his teammates now will have their names inscribed, won the competition with close to an average team GPA of 3.7 last semester.

Gamma Chi Welcomes 19 New Initiates

Special thanks to our Magister Jake Kranz ‘25 & our Asst Magister Gabe Bonilla ‘24, now pursuing a MBA at the Smith School. Great example to the chapter of older Brothers holding key leadership positions.

George Doetsch Jr. ’64 Receives Significant Sig Award

George Doetsch Jr. ’64 received a 2024 Significant Sig Award at Sigma Chi’s 85th Grand Chapter Conference in Denver, Colorado. This is one of our Fraternity’s highest honors, and it recognizes Alumni members whose exemplary achievements in their field of endeavor have brought great honor and prestige to the name of Sigma Chi.

Semi-Annual Scholarship Dinner

After an unconventional draft class, senior captain Danny Russell was the laughing stock in the board room. Doubters quickly ate their words after Russell and his counterparts (including incoming Goldman Sachs summer analyst Pat Bruno) took home the Bell Cup Trophy. This award is granted to the team with the highest average GPA.

Derby Days Breaks Record

The undergraduate brothers raised over $67,000 for Children’s National Hospital this year, beating last year’s record total of $64,000 raised.

November

60s Alumni Gather for 22nd Reunion

Bob Casazza ’67 hosted a gathering in Lancaster, VA of 17 1960s Gamma Chi Sigs and their spouses for the 22nd Reunion of our 60s Alumni. Attendees at the reunion were primarily from the 1963-1969 era.

$67,476 Presented to Children’s National Hospital

Our Undergraduate Chapter raised $67,476 during Derby Days 2025 for the Children’s National Hospital in D.C. Derby Days continues to be the largest UMD Greek Philanthropy and second largest on campus overall. Consul Chris Castelli & Derby Days Co-Chair Cael Comstock presented the check to Children’s National Hospital for the proceeds from Derby Days 2025 (pictured above).
