Sigma Chi is the place where we had a lot of firsts. It’s the place where we first ventured out of our hometowns, the first place we bonded to on campus, and the place where we first learned the true meaning of friendship and how to be real men. Read on to see what your brothers said on how Sigma Chi impacted their lives.
“You hear the term ‘lifelong friendships,’ and I can’t say it enough. We hang out all the time, the same guys,” Mike Luzio ’98 said. “We get together for tailgates. I still have a text with 26 guys going right now, 46 years old, and we still text back and forth on a group text, and that happens at least 10 times a day.”
“I’ve always thought through the years that the fraternity kind of molds your direction in life in many ways. First of all, it allows you to understand that you’re not the only person in the world; you have to get along with others. You’re living and working and studying with people from all sorts of backgrounds. You learn how to cope and work as a team. You learn how to get through tough times together and help each other. And so it gives you this kind of survival instinct, but it also gives you values about some very important things in life, like the Jordan Standard stuff in our manual. You have an optimistic look at things. You have a history of, “I’m going to make this work no matter what.” You learn you have to maneuver life. You have to adapt to things. And it’s not going to be handed to you.” –Bob Casazza ’68
